Today I had to call AAA (my wife's car died just outside our subdivision). They use an automated routing system that routes you to the appropriate service office based on where you're calling from. I live in Vancouver, WA, but was routed to the New York office because, I'm guessing, Vonage initiates the POTS connection in New Jersey. Just something to keep in mind. |

And what happened? Were they able to route you to the correct area? Did you explain and did they take care of the situation? |

Oh, yeah, they were able to route me to the correct office. At first they thought there was an issue with their phone system, but I explained the situation. There are actually local Washington numbers that I can call, too. |

This whole thing is an issue that Vonage will need to address. There's currently a thread about an emergency call to a poison control center not going through. Apparently it's also the result of the call appearing to come from New Jersey. |

Note to self...
When phone adapter "FINALLY" arrives...make sure to call any and all national store chains and car clubs to see if it will actually work.
I can see where the 30 day money-back-garuntee is not quite long enough. I will have about 10 days to figure out if I like this service before I have to cancel.
The thing I need to remember is..not to be tricked into an extra month....I believe if they give me an extra 11 months I may stay with them...because after the 12th month I will not be charged the $39.99 cancelation fee.
This is all becoming very interesting as I start to wonder if I should have signed up for the FREE MONTH and the FREE ACTIVATION and only pay $11.46 for the device to be shipped to me. |

Really, your complaining and you haven't even got your phone yet?
So what if your car club goes to NY first or NJ? They'll patch you through to the correct one.
For all that you get for the money you pay you would actually cancel because of a few seconds difference for someone to come out and change your flat?
I have had Vonage for two months now. It works fine for me. Perfect? No, but darn near. |

I just learned that the phone number assigned to me is long distance from my area code...I called Vonage and tried to get a local number in my area code and there aren't any.
So I appologize for complaining for a service that I can't even use...lol. |

I guess you never make any outgoing long distance calls. Vonage is pretty awesome if you do that.
Do your research before you order. The web site clearly shows what cities are available in what area codes. It's up to you to know if that's a local call or not. |

Yeah, the "local" number for me is really about 12 miles away from my house, but that didn't stop me. I probably could have gotten a more local number if I would have used 440 area code but everyone that surrounds me it seems is in 330 and I'm on the border.
And since long distance is free, I didn't care about my prefix that much. I just picked a number as close by as possible. |
