Nothing to be more careful about...I called and there are no numbers local to me in my area code.
I just got done arguing with a customer service rep who insisted that because my vonage number was in the same area code as my home phone number...that it was local...
There is logic missing in customer service it seems |

we had a slight emergency with out 2 year old daughter and needed to call the poison control hotline number 1-800-222-1222 but vonage did not connect we just got a message that said "number unavailable"
we tried 3 times after checking the phone book and the web we were calling the right number but vonage failed to let the call go thru.
we switched to cell phone and it went right thru.
i see this as something that the techs need to fix right away!
our daughter is fine she just grabbed some cherry flavored gavascons (ant-acid) pills they advised just to give her a meal and she would be fine. |

I just checked the 800 number and it routed me to the correct one. I wouldn't think it would matter which one you get through to though as long as you are able to get through to one and get the help you need. |

My $0.02.
I live in West Michigan and the 1-800-222-1222 routed me to the Grand Rapids Regional poision control center. The person I spoke to was very friendly. |

I live in MA and for work took a cpr/first aid class taught by a local fire chief. He said with poison control the best thing to do is to call 911 first so they can route an ambualance if necisarry and they can instantly conferance in local poison control after that to get immediate help while waiting for the ambulance, its better than calling poison control first and being told to call 911 if they cant help. |

There are known issues with dialing Toll free numbers from Vonage phones. Some people cannot dial local 800 numbers at all.
Something Vonage knows about and does nothing about. Untill there is a few Law Suits. |

I disagree with that. if you drink bleach or the bottle says "you're gonna die if you get this in you or on you", call 911. if it was something silly or small, call poison control. 911 isn't (supposed to be) a catchall for every single stupid little thing when there are other resources publically available. and if the 3 minute difference between talking to poison control and calling 911 makes any difference, you were screwed to begin with. |

Anyone who buys this service should be ware of charges incurrsed when canceling within 30 days.
You will still be charged for the device and EVERYTHING...even if you cancel before the 30 days is up...they claim the refund will occur within a week but it has been longer thant htat for me.
This service is nothing but FRAUD!
DO not purchase VONAGE! Try calling the Billing department before you order and ask for a manager..you will be put in circles and disconnected.
Vonage is Hell!! |
