My existing phone number was transfered from Verizon to Vonage today and it works fine, all new calls come in on the Vonage line. I kept a phone on the verizon line until this was complete. When I came home tonite and was going to remove the phone at the verizon line, I still had a dial tone and the phone works! What is going on?Do I need to call Verizon to shut it off? |

You don't need to call Verizon, the phone will probably die tonight. |

Same thing happened to me. I think that it is just a way to insure that you do not loose your phone service during the transfer. My Verizon dial tone was shut off within 24 hrs of the transfer. |

I'd check it though. I figured that the same thing happened to me with SBC, but, after a few weeks I checked it again and I still had dial tone. When I called SBC they couldn't explain what happened. Fortunately, they could see that they didn't have the number any more, so, they credited my account back to the proper date. |

Funny.... I was nearly a month with no service thanks to Vonage. I like the service now. But, getting it was a nightmare. And I recommended it to one person and no one else since, because of the horror they went through as well. |
