Yes, after many years of Linksys Firmware, I finally broke down and loaded Tofu on my WRT. Works pretty good, neat new features, but I have an issue. With QOS. Please help me configure it. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, and it's probably something stupid. I had been using Port QOS, not MAC QOS, and maybe that's the issue.

Ok, so I went ahead and installed Tofu, no problems at all loading. But for some reason, I had issues afterwards accessing webpages. First thing I thought was DNS. Nope, that all checked out. No problems with DNS anywhere. But when I disabled QOS, BAM, everything started working. So I figured I might have the upload speed setting screwed up at the top. I did a test on speakeasy.net, and got 368kps. So I did 80% of that, about 280kps, and loaded that as the setting, re-enabled QOS, and nope, doesn't work. If anyone has any clue as to what I'm doing wrong, please school me.
Cmon, Tofu gurus, give it up.

So the only thing you are changing is enabling QoS, and the router just suddenly won't serve up web pages at all?

Hmm.

Did you do the "Clear NVRAM" under "Factory Reset" after loading up Tofu?

What other settings did you put in QoS, other than the manual upstream rate?

Nope, I didn't clear nvram. Damn!

As for the settings, besides the manual and having QOS enabled, I have port three set to high, and all other ports set to low, all with flow control.

Ya know, after I loaded Tofu, your guide says to reload factory defaults. I don't think I did that either, since all of the info I used to have showed up. If I do a factory defaults, then clear NVRAM and reboot, maybe that would fix it, right?

It might help, and it might not. It is the first step toward diagnosing any problems you may run into, though, if you haven't done it already. Any old NVRAM variables out there being picked up could cause problems, and cleaning it out and doing a factory reset is a good idea. Just be sure to write down all your settings first so you can rekey them. Wink

Yeah, and maybe next time I'll follow the directions the first time! Very Happy

Nate, I did what you said, and now it's ROCK SOLID. Great QOS and fun toys to boot. Scores on testyourvoip.com are

TO Boston: 4.0
FROM Boston: 4.4

I got some light discards on the TO call, but I chalk that up to ISP. No packet loss at all either way.

SCHWEET!

Enjoy it. Glad to hear a simple brainwipe helped out.

Maybe I should do that to mine since I "defected" to the Thibor build for some of the advanced P2P tools. I just used the settings as-is, and it's working good, but it might be worth doing a NVRAM clear to be on the safe side. Wink

Now that you're on Tofu, Thibor is a very easy load...

http://www.thibor.co.uk/

He adds SpeedBooster support, and a few other toys (port redirection in addition to port forwarding, little things like that). Don't bother with the V4 loader, just load the native version. You know you want to - your inner geek is calling.
