Thibor is BUILT for WRT54GS routers. As long as they aren't GS V5 units, of course, but if you are already running Sveasoft on them they are obviously not V5 units.

And unlike Sveasoft, it's free and open source, and not MAC locked, though Thibor happily accepts donations of course.
Many report the HyperWRT Tofu and Thibor builds it as better software than Sveasoft, but since I've never run Sveasoft, I can't comment personally.

Does anyone know if either one of these will run on the WRT54GS routers? I've never had a WRT54G in my collection, but probably have ~20 WRT54GS routers all over the place running Sveasoft's Alchemy. Other than modifying port forwarding or DHCP reservation settings, I can't think of any time I've ever needed to mess with them. Does either one of these support DHCP reservation?
The Thibor variant was written specifically for the GS's, while Tofu was written for the G's. As it turns out, all the G's from v2 forward can run Thibor also, which basically turns them into GS's! So for all your GS's, Thibor is definitely what you want. If by DHCP reservation you mean assigning a specific IP address to a device, yes, you can. Associate a particular IP address with a MAC address in the router GUI, then anytime that MAC address makes a DHCP request, it will always be given the specifically assigned IP address.
Alchemy has alllllllll sorts of stuff in it, just like DD-WRT, but as you point out, for MOST of us, MOST of it is overkill, and adding all of it in there provides LOTS more opportunities for bugs. The HyperWRT variants seem to have everything most normal users would ever need, but stays a LOT closer to the original Linksys firmware. Oh, and in comparison to Alchemy - its free.

Fellow geeks, a question. If I was to slap in a dumb hub between my cable modem, and my WRT, and stick a laptop running Ethereal on it, one should be able to see QOS at work, correct?
Say if wifey was playing an online game, and hogging some bandwidth, and I made a phone call, I should see QOS move usage around, right? I feel the need....the need for geekery.
