I'll run this one stable for a week or so, then try the other one too! Man, I should've done this long ago. I upped the power level for the wireless one notch, to 67%, and wifey's computer hasn't dropped below 54mbs at all. Next toy: Another WRT so I can bridge them, and dump it on wifey's desk! |

Well, I just took my own advice and wiped mine and reset my basic settings, and MAN what a difference. My Vonage was always clear, but my testyourvoip scores were looking a little ratty. Wiping NVRAM and rekeying my few configuration settings brought everything back to shiny new and 4.0 plus on testyourvoip.
So, that's what I get for ignoring my own advice. (grin) |

He adds SpeedBooster support, and a few other toys (port redirection in addition to port forwarding, little things like that). Don't bother with the V4 loader, just load the native version. You know you want to - your inner geek is calling. |
Gee, and to think that you weren't even going to get a WRT54G in the first place... Now you're our local expert.
Hmmm... Tofu is taking a break, which is why he hasn't added in the extra goodies from Thibor 13d into Tofu. I'm thinking the time may be ripe here......
Yeah, we need "HyperWRT - NateHoy" I'm thinking! Yeah, that's the ticket! You can do it, you're more than ready, its your time!

The conversion from Tofu to Thibor was pretty smooth for me. Your mileage may vary. Either one is Good Stuff. |

I had to schedule a 30 minute "maintenance window" with the wife before I could proceed. Can't take down the production network. |

He acts like he knows what he is saying...
Took the Thibodor plunge myself last night on my V4 and my new WRT54GL. The change from Tofu 13 to Thibodor was easy. I had deleted the code for Tofu, so I downloaded 12 to go from stock Linksys to Tofu to Thibodor. But Thibodor didn't want to jump from Tofu 12 to Thibodor 13. Found Tofu 13 and then the switch was seamless...
Have to say after being in the Tofu arena for a while Thibodor does seem pretty sweet also. |

We all have our places and positions. I used to be an engineer, but for the last few years I've been just a technical sales guy. Obviously, I've already done my part here - I "sold" you on the idea of getting a WRT54G and putting HyperWRT on it. |

Does anyone know if either one of these will run on the WRT54GS routers? I've never had a WRT54G in my collection, but probably have ~20 WRT54GS routers all over the place running Sveasoft's Alchemy. Other than modifying port forwarding or DHCP reservation settings, I can't think of any time I've ever needed to mess with them. Does either one of these support DHCP reservation? |
