My neighbor down the street cannot call my Vonage when he dials, 350-XXXX. He gets a messages that says, cannot go through as dialed.
It is my understanding that he must dial the entire 11 digits. 1-XXX-350-XXXX.
Will he be charged for a long distance call?? |

It appears that you have a toll-call number assigned even though it's in the same area code. your neighbor will probably be charged for a toll-call which is usally .50-.75 per call. |

Vonage seriously needs to make their website more clear, put a disclaimer or somehting on there, because, weekly ppl come here with this problem, and imagine all the ppl who have this problem who aren't even posting here.. it's rediculous! it's not entirely teh customers fault, since alot of ppl have no idea what to look for, and vonage's web site seems to 'misslead' ppl to think that since they have the area code, that all inbound calls will be local for the caller, all they really advertize is "free long distance" so thats all that is seen by the customer who is signing up for service..
if they put on their site that you need to pick a city/exchange that you know is local to your area, not just pick your area code and be done with it.. alot of area code cover alot of area most of which may be long distance, not just one city.. |

He may or may not. He should call his telco and ask if 350 is a local exchange to him, if it is not listed in his phone book.
11 versus 7 digit dialing may simply be a matter of his local telco not having the "350" exchange in their routing tables as being within the area code yet. That doesn't necessarily mean it's a long distance call. |
