Hi there.
When I signed up for Vonage and decided on getting 2 lines (and a dedicated fax line) I was assured that I only needed to order one line with unlimited minutes because the one without unlimited minutes would be able to "use" the minutes of the unlimited minute line.
I've now been told that this is not the case.
Does anyone know the story? Have I been misled?
Thank you for any help or direction on this matter. |

that's pretty weird. I've definitely never heard of that. afaik each line has its allotted minutes and they don't give or take from each other. |

I'm pretty sure you have also been misled. I have two lines, one personal (500 minute line) and one for work (unlimited line) The way my bills show up it certainly looks like I would additional get charges for minutes if the first line went over 500 minutes. I can't say for sure (because I have never gone over on the personal lin) but it is most likely the case. |

I'm not sure the csr new really what you wanted or was to inexperienced to know what you wanted.
From what you said it looks like you need two devices. Two independent voice and one independent fax. So, three ports. If you don't need to use both voice and fax at the same time, one voice could be used as a fax (I do) if you put *99 at the front of each fax call=>Only two voice lines needed then ==>one adapter===>One device, two lines. Now if you said I want an additional virtual number for that line that's a different game. Keep in mind a virtual number is for inbound calls only. ------------------------------------------- Note 1: (from the Vonage site) Ordering More Phone Numbers is Easy Once you have established your Vonage account, it is easy to add more numbers. 1. Login to your online web account. 2. Visit the "Billing" section. 3. Click on the link "Add Additional Line". 4. Choose the area code and region you want. 5. You'll have the option of acquiring additional Phone Adapters or adding the lines to equipment you already have. We can ship new equipment anywhere you want in the US. ----------------------------------------- Note 2: (again from the Vonage site) Why can't I add new lines? There are three situations which would prevent you from ordering new lines: 1. When you have a pending order for an additional number, you must wait for this order to be completed before placing another order. 2. When your account has been suspended or terminated, no additional lines may be added. 3. If you are a new customer, you will be unable to add an additional line until your phone adapter has been configured for your use and shipped. ---------------------------------------- Note 3: Your gunno need bandwidth for 3 X 90kbs to use all three at the same time. That's 270 upload just for the Vonage lines plus your possible internet traffic. IF you do it all at once. But with the expert (I mean it sincerely) help of the vonage-forum membership (excluding myself) you should be able to work something out. --------------------------------------- Note 4: If it's on the way, let it complete then just login in and get what you need from the dashboard. Either a new line or virtual number. |

Thanks for the insights. At least, now, I'm clear on reality. And I think I can still make it all work well for me. |

I think they changed something recently.
In the past, if a Vonage user A calls Vonage user B and B transfers the call to a non-Vonage number, then the minutes counts against B. Now it seems the minutes count against A. |
