So, no one has any kind of other help? Please I am desperate to solve this problem and I really don't know how to fix this. We've called
Vonage
before for help, and that did absolutely nothing (they had us change an IP address, which is okay, but wasn't necessary as it was for the rt31p2's dhcp and at the time we didn't have anything on the Ethernet ports). Anyway, I would really, really like some help. I do appreciate what I've gotten so far (the one that actually suggested a solution).
Well, what I can offer to you is to let you know you're not alone. There have been a few threads about folks complaining about dropped calls. I had a huge dropped call problem when I was on the 1.00.58 firmware on my RPT300. Since an upgrade to 1.00.60, they have disappeared. Don't tear your hair out trying to find out what is wrong with your setup, as it's most likely a
Vonage
problem.
See if they'll swap out the RT31P2 for an RPT300. The 31P2 is real crap, so getting up to the latest hardware that is available from
Vonage
will at least get you on a level playing field from a troubleshooting perspective.

Post subject: Try One Of Your RT31P2's Somewhere Else
Would it be possible for you to take one of the RT31P2's to someplace where you can connect thru a different ISP? Like thru your high speed cable connection at home.
If the problem goes away, then you will have pretty much eliminated
Vonage
service and the routers as causes of the problem.
And if keeping
Vonage
is a priority, you might then consider getting high speed cable at work and bypassing all the DSL "ka-ka".

I've got the same problem. I'm tempted to go buy one of the newer routers, but which one is better? The 300 or the (pap? WAP?) whatever the other one is called...

It sounds like you have a very similar symptom, but since you're cable and Nathan is DSL I think it's unlikely that you have the same problem.
Before I sank $$$ in a new router that might not solve the problem, I'd find a way (friends house, work perhaps) to connect the current one to a different ISP (or just a different path to the same ISP).
How old is the physical cable from your house to the cable box? Last year we started intermittently loosing the incoming side of our calls (they could hear us but we could not hear them). The
Voip
QoS was always good (low 3's to 4) and there were no problems with the internet connection or the TV service. But when I finally bit the bullet and had the cable company come out, the tech found that the quality of the signal was very bad and fixed it by replacing the undergound cable. We've been AOK since.

Post subject: Update
First of all, let me thank each and every one of you who added something to this thread. I figured I should get back on here and give everyone an update on my situation. After almost an hour on the phone with
Vonage
, we ended up changing my configuration a bit. Beforehand, I had rerouted my configuration back to the original setup. If you remember from my first post, we had the fax line and phone line 1 in one rt31p2 and line 2 on its own adapter.
Vonage
had us move line 1 and line 2 onto the second adapter and leave the fax line on its own. That way they could reduce the bandwidth for the phones and leave the fax bandwidth at the higher level. This was about a week and a half to 2 weeks ago and so far as I've seen we haven't had any dropped calls. At least my boss hasn't noticed any. The only problem we've been having in the last couple of days is the fax machine has been getting communication errors (poor signal quality). However, I haven't checked the rt31p2 for the fax machine yet, so I don't know all the info on that yet. Once again, let me thank you all for you input into the situation.

What firmware level are these routers at? It is good that you have seen some performance improvents with your current changes.

The fax router is at the latest firmware version. The phone line router we had trouble actually updating the firmware version, but it's only one version down, and we're still doing good as far was we can tell so far.
