Seems that Comcast is "experiencing difficulty" again today.
But here's something strange. When I call my home phone (Chicago number) it gets kicked over to my cell phone, and I have no idea whatsoever why it would do that! I have never set up call forwarding to my cell phone and cannot figure how or why it would be sending calls to it.
Any ideas? |

Okay, I figured it out. It was my Network Availability setting that automatically forwards the calls to my cell if the network is down.
Just called Comcast to beef w/ them and they were about as vague as they could be. Would not confirm any major upgrade going on that would account for all of these network issue, but did acknowledge that many people were calling in from my area.
As it relates to Vonage, they would only say that there have been "issues" with Vonage customers using Comcast, and then they took a shot at Vonage saying "I'm not sure it works that good." Common...it's David vs. Golliath all over again! Let's hope Vonage fares a bit better than that CLECS did vs. the Baby Bells. |

A good comeback for anyone who gets this line from Comcast...
"Yeah, you're probably right. It depends on a good Internet connection, which apparently I don't have." |

I have no choice but to cancel Vonage and go back to a land line. I work from home and rely on a phone. Vonage can blame Comcast all they want but the fact of the matter is that I am making a payment for a service I cannot use or rely upon.
It is up to Vonage to work with Comcast and MAKE it work. I am sick of the service announcement on my dashboard (when I'm lucky enough to be able to access vonage.com) to call Comcast. We all know that 1-800-Comcast will get us nowhere.
End rant as I pick up cell phone to call SBC again with my tail between my legs. |

It's not just Comcast vs. Vonage, it's Comcast vs. just about anyone & anything. I use Comcast connections for just about everything imaginable, from building control to full TV broadcasts that get put up on DirecTV. If it seems like I've been hard on Comcrap, it's only because I've had to deal with them so frequently with problems on their end.
As far as people being pissed off at Vonage over the issue, cancel Comcrap and let your opinion be known with your dollars. As long as you don't push Comcrap to improve their service, it won't improve and nor will your chances for any future Voip with any provider. If you buy a sports car, put in terrible gasoline, then the dealer tells you it's the gasoline, dumping the car isn't the answer. |
