Hello all, first i would like to say that i have been with Vonage for 3 years now and have been very happy (thus far).
After having existing conversations with Vonage tech support and going no where im here hoping that someone can help me out. On that point, to have to post to a BB because the company that you are paying to provide you a service can't give you support is deplorable.
Now on the issue.
I live in FL, i use COMCAST. I have a Cisco ATA 186. My download rate is 6mb and upload is 384K. I typically get those rates (depending on the day).
Recently out of the blue my phone would RING, just once..a very short blip ring. Then stop. No one would be on the other line, and my call online call log would not record any inbound numbers.
So this is the first real time in 3 years that iv had any issues with my service. I email support, i get a response back a day later with the following
Vonage "tech" support: "We understand from your e-mail that, you are getting a single ring in your Vonage phone however its not registered in the call activity.
We have made some changes on our side"
I reset the modem. Now, at this point when the modem comes back up i have no dial tone.
OK, i email support again, saying "hey now i don’t have a dialtone, and my Internet connection is up and working".
Vonage "tech" support responds:
[qoute]"We are extremely sorry, without your permission we have assigned the phone number to port-2 of the phone adapter."
OK, at this point im starting to wonder what the hell is going on. This guy changed the port on my adapter?[/qoute]
So on and on it goes.
Finally i get dialtone back (he just moved the port back to the original).
But at this point, my phone does not RING when a call is coming in. Not to say that the call is not "routed" to my adapter. My phone just does not RING. I have confirmed this by calling my home number from a cell phone....letting it ring a few times....then mind you without HEARING any ring on the Vonage attached phone, i pick up. And low and behold im connected.
Now i know what you are thinking. Did you turn your ringer off? Answer is no.
They have reset my modem, updated the firmware (2 years old BTW), and this guy that im dealing with in support just keeps on telling me to reset my modem and that should fix the issue.
I am seriously considering jumping to SunRocket or another carrier, because at this point its been 2 days and my original "little issue" has turned into a very big one.
Sorry for the rant.
Just needing to blow off a little steam at Vonage and this issue in particular.
Thanks. Any comments would be appreciated.[quote] |

I was in the middle of a call the other day when all of a sudden the call got dropped. From that point on I couldn't call out or receive calls. Yes, the phone was still ringing.
I unplugged my router. Waited a bit and plugged it back in. Fixed everything.
At this point have you tried simply unplugging your router? Wait about 30 seconds and plug it back in.
I realize they had you to this earlier, but you might want to try it again at this point and see if that doesn't straighten everything out. |

vesser, to eliminate the phone as the source of the problem, have you considered plugging in another phone, a wired one preferably. |
