PostPosted: Sat Feb 18, 2006 3:45 pm    Post subject: Dlink 604 and VT1000. Issues port forwarding Reply with quote Back to top

Hey all,

Right now I am set up with Calls Prioritized so, Cable Modem --> VT1000 --> Dlink 604 --> computer.

My phone and Internet work fine in this configuration, but port forwarding of the Dlink does not. What I am trying to do is port forward bearshare. I have the dlink setup correctly, as port forwarding works with bearshare when I take the VT1000 out of the picture.

I just don't know how to set up the Dlink and VT1000 to work together.

I tried moving the VT1000 behind the dlink (which I suspect is the way to resolve this problem), so - cable modem --> dlink 604 --> VT1000 and dlink 604 --> computer

But in this configuration the green light on the VT1000 flashes 3 times and never goes solid green.

I am at a loss here. Can anyone help me set things up?

Thanks.

Okay,

figured it out. Can keep the vt000 right after the cable modem.

Have to port forward the computer ip on the router and the wan ip address on the vt1000

I have a very similar, and baffling situation...that I still can't get to work. My setup is similar, but with a different router.

Cable Modem ==> VT1000 ==> Netgear WGR614v2 ==>PC

Like you, I have successfully tested the netgear router port forwarding without the VT1000 in the loop.

The VT1000 takes the WAN address (67.xx.xx.xx - specifics not important here) and creates the local LAN with addresses 192.168.102.X

The netgear's WAN address (because its behind the VT1000) is 192.168.102.100. The netgear then creates its own local LAN with addresses 192.168.0.X

So the PC I'm trying to serve on port 80 IP address is 192.168.0.9, so on the netgear port forwarding settings, I forward that addresses, port 80.

Then...on the VT1000, I'm setting the port forwarding settings to forward 192.168.102.800 (the netgear's IP) port 80. This is what I'm assuming the VT1000 will see and forward.

That all seems to make sense to me, but it doesn't work. Any suggestions?

I'd try setting it up the way Foghat did, putting the VT1000 behind the Netgear.

I did try that, but I had some issues with call performance when I did that...I had some dropped calls and calls with noise on them. If I could fix that, then I'd be happy...either solution would work for me.
