I have to attest that I fixed some clipping audio that has been a problem of late. Resetting the device did nothing (even with a pin for 10 secs)
What did do good:
I have a
In the admin control panel :
* under "Access restricytions" i DISABLED
- Block Anonymous Internet Requests and Filter Multicast
Generally this seems to have totally amazingly shot the wazoo up of the sounds quality, also provided a better bandwidth test.

I might be totally wrong here, and I am sure Coldgin could correct me; but I think you just blocked Vonage from pushing you firmware updates. |

I don't know what the actual setup page says but: """Access restricytions" i DISABLED""
He didn't enable the restriction. So he's allowing the: "Anonymous Internet Requests" |

YES:
I am basically OPENING the firewall as much as possible, and honest I am BLOWN AWAY by how the device is handling now:
1. I am using 90K voice (as this never worked correctly, clipped alot)
2. GET THIS: No voice problems on the upload end when uploading via a web browser that has no upload cap.
doing some tests with my voicemail box and seriously no problems, and i'm uploading a large file at steady 35K
Again:
I ALLOWED:
-anonymous internet requests - and disabled filter multicast

I also Allowed all passthroughs of VPNS:

waiting to see if this router bends under a hijack, but otherwise this is BIG NEWS |

I will try it since my adapter is on the inside of my network. I would not recommend that anyone do this if you have this unit as your main router off of your cable/dsl! |

If a gang was coming to break into your house, and you have a machine gun in your front yard, would you not use it, and just keep a pistol in your hand?
Software firewalls aren't enough. If you have a hardware firewall and you don't use it, you get what you deserve. It's a trade-off between performance /vs/ security. Personally, I'd pick security. |

I am going to give your settings a try, my RT31P2 sits behind my WRT54G, and only has a phone line plugged into it. Got nothing to lose. |

So honestly what might happen if I got "attacked?" the router would clam up and need to be reset?
In terms of my file security, not really concerned, my hard drive is like a wideopen spread eagle
