I have a 3 Megabyte (not megbit) per second LAN connection to the internet. Placing my VT1005 before the router gives me QOS with clear calls, but drops my speed test scores to about 1.2 Megabye per second. Placing it behind the router gives me 2.87 Megabyte per second speed test, but I lose QOS and it breaks up if the internet is very active.
My Router supports QOS routing, but even enabling it WITHOUT even setting any rules drops my speed to 2.1 Megabytes per second. Adding QOS rules for the VT drops it to 1.8. Still better the using the VT before the router, but not as good as the router without QOS. Router is a WRT54GSV4 running DDT firmware v23.
Are there any VT's than can go in front of the router, and pass these kind of speeds.
To clarify, my internet bandwith is 1/3rd of a 100baseT port. And the equipment just cant keep up. What are my options?

A higher-end router, or an older PC running M0n0wall or Smoothwall or IPCop.
You can also try HyperWRT Tofu, which is a little lighter on features but is reportedly faster. No guarantees. The WRT54G is a consumer router running a 200 mhz processor.

Is any Vonage VT capable of passing these speeds through? I would rather use it pre-router anyway. The Router can keep up if QOS is off, so a VT that is pre-router that can keep up would solve everything... Are there any specs on this anywhere? The VT1005 claims to have 100baseT on both sides, but it obviously cant handle the throughput internally.
