Now no Voip service at all, DSL internet service is working.
Can not run VIOP test
Trying to determine if the local DSL provider has found a way to block the port used for Vonage?
Any help?
Thanks

No problems here so far. Since 3:30am ET, ~100 minutes used so far today. The Cisco ATA was the first one Vonage used, so I'm assuming it's probably a few years old... could be a bad ATA. Any way of "borrowing" a friend's/neighbor's/employer's connection?

Can you access www.vonage.com ? does www.testmyvoip.com work?

I have DSL internet connex and can access all sites.
Can not run Voip test
Neighbour also has DSL and Vonage but with different adaptor and he has same problem.
Peeps with Cable connex and Vonage, no problem, so i don't think it is my equipment.
Before reboot had a dial tone, but could not connect after reboot, no dial tone but have DSL connex.
Suspect provider is blocking. Anyway to check?

Sad OK, I am led to believe that our local DSL ISP has found a way to block Voip and are in the process of charging Voip customers extra for the service.
It is a monopoly in this area and since the introduction of VIOP their income from long distance and international calls via POTS has dropped to practically nothing.
Thanks for your input and I hope that since there is still competition in the states for providers that they won't start charging you for bandwidth.

Sorry to hear that they blocked Voip. Since you refer to "the states", I assume you are not in the US? A good number of overseas (or over the border - especially to the South) ISP's have been doing that lately.

Fortunately, in the US, ISP's have trouble getting away with such shenanigans. That doesn't help you out, though, I'm afraid.

If Vonage can get into the box (which uses a different port), they MAY be able to customize the connection ports for you. I'm not sure they could, but it's worth a call if you can get your adapter running on someone's connection.

Sad Unfortunately I don't have the option of switching to a cable provider, so far they haven't started blocking Voip.
I can carry my adaptor and connect to a cable modem and see if I can get tech support to fiddle with it.
That old Cisco 186 has done well, many of the Motorolas and Linksys adaptors here have failed.
I also have a Linksys WRT54GP2 as a backup and am just using the wireless side of that for a home wireless network.
DSL provider is going to charge for metered bandwidth or increase the flat rate to cover the use of Voip equipment and their loss of revenue.
