sometimes after I listen to all of my messages and clear them, once I hang up the VME waiting light on my phone is still flashing and the dial tone is still studderred. this can go on for a day or so.
also, other times when I return home there is no indication of a call, but when I check I have voice mail waiting.
this only happen about 20% of the time, but is real annoying. anyone have any ideas ?
thanx ! |

1) Which Vonage adapter are you using, 2) are you using home wiring or just direct into the Vonage adapter, and 3) what brand/model telephone(s) are you using?
Voicemail waiting signalling is VERY convoluted in the telephone industry, with no fewer than 6 different methods available for analog telephones. Of course, none of these are inter-compatible with each other. To the best of my knowledge, Vonage adapters send out CLASS-type voice mail waiting indicators. Your phone may/may not support this.
As far as the system still showing new voice mail when there is none, the best way to prevent this is to make sure you listen to the message and then save or delete it. Make sure you exit the voice mail system by dialling * a few times rather than hanging up on it.
Apparently what happens is the voice mail system tries to tell the Vonage adapter that there's no new mail, BUT, when you hang up without signing out of the voice mail system with *, there's no chance for the system to send out the "no mail" message. If you get caught in a situation where your adapter thinks you have a message and you don't, leave yourself a new message, then go in and listen/delete/exit and it'll clear it out. |

adapter is a Linksys WRTP54g and going thru the house wiring. the phone is a Motorola 5.8ghz wireless, model 680 or something.
it works most of the time, and I always read, save/delete, and hit * * before I hang up after listening to voice mails. |

I have the same problem with the voice message indicator, I have a Uniden cordless TRU system and the indicator works only 50% of the time. It is hit or miss. |
