Do you have a wireless phone? Wireless phones sometimes are on the same channel as wireless routers. Try changing channels on your phone or changing the channel on your wireless router.
I'm willing to bet money that you're using a 2.4Ghz cordless phone... Just happens to be that 802.11 B & 802.11 G wireless networking uses 2.4Ghz as well. Some cordless phones play nice, others totally obliterate the spectrum while in use.
On the cordless phone, what is the FCC ID#? You should be able to find this number on the handset or base of the phone.

or you could try changing the channel on both your wireless router say to channel 11 and the phone to a lower channel if that is configurable on your phone. I haven't tried a phone call with the wireless phone while on my laptop (I have a regular wired phone next to it) but I did change my channel on my wireless router.
