In reading all the discussions going on in this forum. I think the one that made me realize that people really should examine there needs and what type of things they have in use that require a phone before getting a Voip service ... was the one where a guy asked if water meters work with Voip.
Who would have ever thought a water meter is read over phone tones? (not me)
and fax machines (older versions) some require an analog connection...... I know because I have one. Luckily I have more than one and they do work with Voip.
I have heard quite a few business horror stories relating to pbx, I use to work at a motel and they had a pbx box that looked like a monsterball of wires...... very intimidating
On the other hand I also read great reviews and the added programs being introduced to go with Voip ( new program lover here)
I just mainly wanted to point out that all the advertising to get new users for Voip is based on the money savings vs. analog phone company fees and especially where i live this is a BIG enticement.
And we all know most jump at the chance to save money.
If there was a positive way to implement into Voip advertising - Will Voip meet your needs along with some type of a checklist, well that would be very kewl and save alot of headaches on both sides ( customers and cs and techs) |

Just remember, when phone companies went from operator-switched calls to automatically switched calls, that was a huge growing pain. No longer could people ask the operator "what happened?" when a call failed to go through. They just got annoying beeps and squeeks, and probably said, "Damn them, can't they make this work? Why am I even paying for this is half the time I can't connect?" Sounds very familiar, and as in all things, we're coming full circle. I wonder what the next thing will be after Voip? I think definately WiFi will get huge and kill cell phone companies if they don't adopt. I think dialing actual numbers might go away, and we'll see sort of SIP ID's to identify who we want to call. Maybe a little thing you can wear, is voice activated, and stores all of your "speed dial numbers". That sounds VERY familiar and when you think about it, not THAT far fetched. Hmm. |
