Post subject: IP Connectivity to Motorola Box
Another question for the
Vonage
experts here. My network setup at home looks like this:
[internet]---[cable modem]---[linksys router]---[motorola MTA]----[phone]
\
\
[2 computers]
I'm planning on using the Sveasoft firmware to prioritize the voice traffic over the data.
In the meantime, I was interested in telneting into the motorola box. Not to change anything, but rather just to check out the configs (I'm curious. . I can't help myself). The Linksys router is running NAT and has served up IP address 192.169.1.101 to the Motorola device. But I cannot ping the Motorola box from either of my two computers. I can ping one computer from the other so I know there is no IP routing issue on my LAN. I'm also unable to telnet into the Motorola device using its IP address. Finally, I ran a port scan on 192.168.1.101 and it showed up with 0 open ports. I thought that strange.
So my question is, why can't I access the Motorola MTA? What do I need to do?

The "network setup" diagram I posted above didn't display quite right. The "2 computers" are hanging off the linksys box, not the "Internetu" (obviously).

Mot is correct as always. The only way to hit the config page is from the PC port. Otherwise the MTA (with latest firmware) is invisible and won't respond to anything.
