Alrighty, I just made a new account for the VTech via the activate page. It cost me another $29.99.
Still, nothing. Solid amber light, no dialtone.
Next idea? :\
Sorry, I recommended that before I knew that
Vonage
had tried fiddling with the MAC address on your account.
Unfortunately, I think this can only be straightened out with a call to CS at this point, and you'll probably need at least a Tier 2 support agent. I would think they could get you straightened out rather quickly, the RTP300 account canceled and instructions for mailing back the RTP300 when it arrives, the Vtech mac re-associated with the new account you just created, etc.

Yay! IT WORKS!
It turns out the second account I made did nothing, so I got back on the phone. Gah.
I finally got Didilish, a great techie who... believe it or not... did not have an accent. Another first! Anywho, he helped take off the RPC300's MAC address (since both were on the account), which I had asked the first tech who activated the IP8100-2 to do. I also asked them to tell me my MAC Address several times over several operators, and they told me the new one, but failed to mention the old one.
Dialtone, check. Calls out, check. Calls in, check. Virtual number, check. Toll-free number, check. Woot!
And it only took like 20 calls.
Thanks Nate, you were quite helpful.

No problem. Sorry for the confusion on what was going on. The time lag of posting messages and going off and doing things will do that.
Glad it all worked out for you.

Post subject: Vonage Boxes
I'm helping someone on the phone who has
Vonage
and he claims that his
Vonage
box does not have any router capabilities built into it. That doesn't make sense to me. The only device I see that
Vonage
supplies, that this might be true is the VTech IP8100-2 5. But even that should have to share the broadband connection with the
Voip
and the Computer. Is that correct? If so, it's like a two-port router,
Voip
Line and ETH Line.
He gets 169 IP when hooked to
Vonage
box, but gets good IP & can surf, when he connects direct to his broadband modem.

what's the model number. The PAP2 is currently the only device that
Vonage
supplies that is not a router.

Don't know for sure his model number, The call seems to have dropped after I asked him to look at and give me the MAC off the
Vonage
Adapter. Where can I see more info on the PAP2? How does it function if it isn't sharing the broadband connection?

I dont know what he has, but thanks for the help. He said he's an IT Director, and if he has any
Vonage
device that has an ETH in and an ETH out, then it is a router. And if he's not getting a good IP when connected thru the
Vonage
box, then it's either faulty or not configured properly, would be my guess. He did power cycle his cable modem, so the
Vonage
device should automatically register and pull a good IP. I noted his account, all I can do for him with the call dropped, in limbo.
