Totally lost here...

Still in the process of getting my phone number transferred to Vonage and I am looking forward to using the service... but the RTP300 is KILLING my downstream bandwidth. Did a factory reset on it, was on the phone with Tier 2 Tech Support for a couple of hours (not kidding) and still seeing this loss of bandwidth.

Ran reports from the crappy broadbandreports.com and also trying to DL Nvidia display adapter drivers and DL speeds go from 555KB/Sec with no router down to 45KB/sec with the router in line... and the phone isn't even hooked up!! Tried resetting every option in the router. Just about ready to cancel my order... and now I can't get through on the phone to Vonage support.

Anyone got any ideas?? Tech support has come up empty for me so far...

I had a similar experience as you in terms of a sudden drop in speed. It turned out that I had a really really old Network card on my desktop that was having trouble auto-negotiating the speed with the router. But with the modem only, it was perfect. That's b/c the modem is set at 10 Mbps while most routers today want to work at 100 Mbps. My network card couldn't handle the 100 Mbps speeds so I had to manually set it to 10 Mbps and removed it from auto-negotiating. Ever since then, speeds are back to the pre-router days. If you need more info, just ask.

I believe you need to go to the device manager and find your network card and then set its speed to 10Mbps. In my case, I chose the 10Mbps full duplex mode.

You have succeeded where Vonage Tier 1, 2 and 3 support could not. I have a NIC that's a little old but the drivers are up to date but that change fixed the problem. Seeing my old speed again.

congrats Q3M7! I also found the answer through a forum and not through customer service. I called DLink and told them the solution so that they could post it on their FAQ page. Anyways, enjoy the service. I've loved it for the last year and hope for many more years to come.
