Dan, what I like most about you is how you can inject some humour and get away with it, even if you were not the admin.

On a serious note, you might all want to take a look at what the veteran VoIP pioneers are saying about YOU:

More on Comcast/Vonage issue

BTW, this guys business partner, Jeff Pulver; is highly regarded as the most innovated VoIP pioneer, if not the inventer of VoIP altogether.

One thing is definite Someone is blocking Vonage as per Jeffery Citron and this came about as recently as a few weeks ago. The only outages that have consistency is from Comcast. I don't see any other trend ( maybe I missed something here) So if you add one plus one you get two that's the way I see it.

I think you want Comcast to be the bad guy so bad, that no matter what the facts are you will conclude Comcast is out to get you. I really think you should get a new ISP (if you have Comcast) and be done with it. If they have done you wrong in the past, you should really try to move on with your life and get over it.

Blocking Vonage traffic would be.... say.... really stupid. It was done a few times with smaller ISPs and these providers were quickly brought to court.

Unless there are some other issues in a geographical area with a certain provider I must conclude Comcast is the cable provider Mr Citron is speaking about.

You should have used the word AssUme instead of conclude

[The posted comments address a growing number of complaints regarding connection quality of Vonage's VoIP telephone service, particularly in areas where Comcast offers broadband access. Vonage representatives, however, said they haven't noticed problems.

"To my knowledge, these rumors are hearsay," said a spokesperson for Vonage.

Hello, I worked there and they are very aware of the situation I tell you. 60 ( and this is not exaderation) percent of the tech calls coming in were from midwest Comcast users and we were told to tell customers that the issue was with Comcast and for them to CALL COMCAST. I am sure anyone who works in tech for Vonage can attest to this and if not they would stone cold be lying.

You worked for Vonage!? Hmm.... Wink

Actually a logical explanation of the issue being in the midwest Comcast area is evident in the data from this thread (I know data does not help you with the FUD) and it has nothing to do with blocking.... Folks, can we give the blocking debate a rest??? Comcast is not that stupid to intentionally target Vonage customers... Rolling Eyes

First, I am not a Comcast or Vonage user and most certainly will never be a Vonage User. Contrary to your AssUmption I do not particularly care for Vonage or it's success by any means, for they have crossed me. So, rightfully I have a valid right to dislike Vonage. I do find this subject interesting, however for it is a Comapany that by far is very ecieving and disliked by Sooo many it is evidentialy clear as to what is going on by now, The evidence is mounting pretty high. Good for Comcast ( I say). That may make others angry, but it's just my opinion. I have helped others here who have connection problems and do not mind doing so (although my sugestion is to find a better provider than Vonage). I feel Vonage is just getting a taste of their own medicine, and it just gleefuly makes me euphorically happy to see that they have recieved a welcome package as well with no vasiline. Yes I did work for Vonage ( unfortunately - a bad decision on my part but a decision that I could not make correctly because of their deception practices), and as a person who did, I know the inner evils of Vonage. Some folks may naively discredit Vonage doings because it is inconcievable a company may act in the manners they do. All of Corporate America works in this manner but Vonage has taken it to the extreme. So Your AssUmptions have all been just that, an uninformed, incorrect assumption with no validation. I support my findings by referencing what I find and adding up the evidence. Could I be wrong? Sure, but doubtful, if I am I will formally appoligize, however it is the companies own secrets that bring this about. A little leak here and there and you can start to build the puzzle. This is fun for the few minutes a day I spend on this. It is satisfying and I sleep well. According to another post it seems that a Vonage rep made mention of Patmedia now doing some blocking - we will have to see if this evolves to others. I will continue to follow this forum and provide any and all information I find on the blocking situation as this is my righ as well as my right to dislike Vonage, which I do not stand alone on by any means. I'm not sure I have ever seen a company drum up so much negativity about themselves as Vonage has.
