i have had Vonage for 8 months now....the caller id has always worked...but for the last 3 days when the phones ring all of them say error for the caller id... i have not made any changes in the last 2 weeks ie new phones or anything...so is Vonage having problems delivering caller id now? |

It has been spotty for me since the firmware upgrade to 1.00.60. Although I've never seen an error or anything, I do often get an unknown name for numbers that previously showed the name. However, the same numbers will show name on some calls. It's very inconsistent. |

Are the errors coming from a lot of different carriers at the other end, or just from one- a local POTS provider for instance? |

the error is only happening on our main phone in the living room and the kitchen...the phones in our bedroom are getting the caller id data..
the only thing i did this weekend was to plug a dsl filter into the jack on my tivo .. the 2 phone that are having the error 1 is in the same wallplate as the tivo and the other is feed from the same jack its just on the other side of the same wall.
i am going to remove the dsl filter from the tivo. i only added it to see if tivo would be more successful on calls but it seams worse with the filter on the tivo. |

if you're going to use the DSL filter trick, try connecting the DSL filter directly into the Vonage device itself, then running your wiring after that. Also, make sure you're using the highest quality on the Bandwidth saver. |

i removed the dsl filter from the line and the caller id is now working.
strange how it being plugged into the back of tivo could affect t phones 10 feet away (wire length)..
i am going to try plugging it into the ata now to see if i can keep the caller id data working on the phones. which way sould i plug the filter in to make tivo more successful with the line side on the filter going to the ata ot the house wiring? |
