I have installed the RTP300 twice, being very careful to follow directions to the letter. I keep getting an error message that my Network Cable is unplugged. It is secure at both ends, and my computer's ethernet card is working properly.
On the adapter, the power light, Ethernet #1 light, and the Internet light are all on and solid. Anyone else had this problem
And also....what's up with 192.168.15.1 VONAGE....YOU NEED TO GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER |

1. Plug cable modem into WAN port of RTP.
2. Plug LAN port of RTP (any) into computer.
3. Reboot all devices in order (modem, RTP, computer) and ensure computer is set up to receive IP address from DHCP.
4. Power on all devices (modem, RTP, computer). Wait 15 minutes for any firmware updates.
5. Type 192.168.15.1 into your web browser to log in to the admin page pf the router.
6. Check for dial tone.
When you connect everything, tell us what lights you have lit on the RTP and what they are doing (blinking, solid) |

I resolved the "cable unplugged" error problem. I had 2 Local Area Connections enabled, a Network Adapter and my Ethernet Connection. Had to "disable" Network since it wasn't being used.
However, once I got that problem worked out, I followed your instructions carefully, but still couldn't connect. I spent several hours on phone with Verizon and Linksys, tried Vonage but only got tired of waiting or getting busy signal.
Linksys technician said I got a faulty router and would need to get another one from Vonage. Verizon was the most helpful, but they tested the router and said it was ok.
I have boxed up the router and plan on cancelling my Vonage account. Maybe I'll try it some time down the road once some of the bugs are worked out.
Thank you for trying to help. |

Let's see here....you had a problem with your own computer, which you blamed on Vonage... then apparently have a bad router from Vonage, yet you're not going to give them the chance to send you a working one? Doesn't make sense to me.
BTW, you're the first person I've heard of who has a bad RTP300 and Vonage has been shipping them since August. |

You need to read my first post more carefully. I wasn't blaming Vonage for the problem with the cable. I merely explanied the problem I was having and asked if anyone else has had the same problem.
Only issue with Vonage in that post was not being able to get on the router site when typing in the #'s....and I'm certainly not the only one that has had THAT problem.
As far as the faulty router, I'm not sure if it's faulty. Linksys says it is, Verizon says it isn't.
As far as giving Vonage a "chance" to fix the problem, I may do that at some point in the future. My number tranfer was going to take place before I had the system working, which would have left me without phone service.
Until I can verify that my computer isn't the problem, I'm not blaming ANYONE for the "cable unplugged" error. |

From your computer, type IPCONFIG /ALL with your computer's Ethernet port wired to a LAN port on the Vonage router, and post the results. |

Is the computer adapter setup to Obtain IP Automatically? Is there a Network icon in the taskbar that shows the computer connected(2 little computers)? Please post what NateHoy said from Start/Run/cmd/ipconfig/all You can get the same info from: System Information/Components/Network/Adapter One more thing, please state your setup: modem/rtp300/computer or modem/some other router/rtp300/computer. |
