Hi. I am trying to connect to the web config pages on the VT100. I did connect initially using the 192.168.102.1 IP when connected to the PC port on the unit. The VT100 had picked up an IP of 10.10.10.35 from the DHCP server on my LAN. The WAN port is connected to the back of my BEFSX41. I changed the IP/Subnet/GW to an IP that is on my LAN's subnet. I also turned of DHCP on the VT100 as my server already performs this and rebooted the unit. Now, I can't connect to the web config. I can't even ping it, though I couldn't ping it in the first place either. Am I only able to connect when my PC is directly connected to the PC port on the VT100 and only with the 192.168.100.1 address? I don't really understand this setup... Thanks |

If you have turned off DHCP, then you need to get your PC on the 192.168.100.XXX network. Probably your router is handing out a different DHCP address.
What you need to do is go into your network settings and turn off "Obtain an IP address automatically" and then set the IP to 192.168.100.99 (for example) and a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. This should allow you to connect again long enough to turn on DHCP. Then you can put the Obtain IP address automatically back on.
If you describe your exact setup we can probably give you some better advice. I think most of us basically have:
BB modem ---> Router ---> MTA (wan)
Then you don't have anything hooked up to the MTA's PC port (and you can't get to the config page as everyone has noted).
The router gets a DHCP address from your IP, and then assigns the MTA a different address. In this case, 192.168.100.1 isn't really used since nothing is hooked to the PC port. But this setup seems to work best for most people. |

What I have is Motorola Canopy Wireless Broadband, so there is no BB modem per se. DHCP is handled by my Win2k server and the Linksys router has a static IP and is actually in Gateway mode. So my broadband WAN link is connected to the router, the MTA is connected to the router. So yes, nothing is connected to the PC port of the MTA. I didn't notice anything in the web config to change the IP address of the PC port of the MTA, just the WAN port. I just would like to be able to connect to the web config from another computer on my LAN without having to be directly connected to the MTA. Thanks |

I connected one PC to the PC port and set the static IP with the same network address. I was able to get in and change the configuration.
Thanks for all the reply, greatly appreciate it! |
