PostPosted: Sun Feb 12, 2006 7:06 am    Post subject: 2nd Vonage line. Can you get the $29 activation fee waived? Reply with quote Back to top

I have been using Vonage for 2 years and want to add a second line but don't really want to pay $29 for the activation. That seems a bit steep for an existing customer.

Are there any rebates, coupons, or special offers avail?

Thanks.

I can tell you it does get done, but I can't give you a precise mechanism. Getting to Account Management with a threatened termination unless the fee's waived is not altogether useless.

Well I spoke to someone, whom I assume was not in the U.S., and they were not able to waive the "activation fee". What a crock!

As a last ditch effort I emailed billing explaining that if this doesn't get waived they can wave bye-bye to the current line I have with them.

Heck I can get two lines cheaper with SunRocket and they get good reviews...

Let us know if you win this contest buirdman. I'm needing to add another line since I ported my Qwest phone number to Vonage. Hmmm. Maybe I could refer myself to me and pick up additional 2 months on present and a month on the new line?

Well... That does sound kind of chintzy Smile If you make out though please post the steps in the forum.

I will be dropping Vonage and trying out Tomato Vine. Customer service is important to me and now that Vonage has apparently outsourced theirs I am leaving.

See ya Vonage.

Although I am happy now, customer service is also very important to me. If and when I need customer service (and god forbid with Vonage...great product, but holy smokes do they have a bad reputation for Customer Service), and I don't get it, I will also be moving along. Some companies are ok with that, some customers are a pain in rear, i'm only that way when something goes wrong and I can't get answers, or am lied to (both distinct possiblities here). It breeds things like "how can I rip them off, since they won't reimburse me for the 3 days I didn't have telephone service"...etc. I am treading very lightly with having any dependence on such a company ...making it easier to jump ship to another Voip carrier and "see how they do".

Of course it also could be that I never have to access customer service and experience any of this, or Vonage figures out which end is up and provides the whole ball of wax (good product AND good Customer service).

Sorry to see you have to jump ship burdiman, but I would assume there will be others following you.

In general I have been happy with them but I expect something for my loyalty. I give it to my customers...nuff said. I was an early adopter and should get something for spreading the word and sticking with them through the growing pains.

Not to be.
