If you have an extra device, you can have Vonage assign the fax to it, but they will not send you a new device for a fax line. (Nor will they send a device for an exsisting phone line, just new voice lines) |

Well, I'd contact Vonage tech support to find out, but I'm sure it'd take a week to get through. |

The past few times I've tried calling Vonage up, it's been ~5-10 minute wait time, which is excellent compared to what their hold times used to be. |

Well, what if I use a second adapter with that fax machine and have this second adapter be dedicated solely to the fax?
On my current primary adapter, the open phone 2 port that originally is for my fax line would never be used then, because the fax machine would be connected to a second adapter reserved soley for the fax.
Would this setup work? |

I don't think they'll provision an adapter for the sole purpose of a fax line. |

Maybe they will. I'm getting conflicting statements from tech support people with whom I have spoken. So far, no one has said it's not allowed per se; instead, I've had one techie tell me it's not technically possible, and another techie tell me it IS possible. I would just have to call Vonage and give them the info on this second adapter. It sounds like they'd tie that adapter's MAC address to my fax machine line and thereby "remove" this provision from my first adapter's phone 2 port.
I'm still not 100% sure if this would all work. I'd have to get a second adapter to see. |

Run a long phone cord under the carpet or baseboard trim if necessary from the adapter $5 second line to the room you want to use the fax in, use *99 on calls for that line.
If you approach it as a second ta on the one account they might do it. Then you can't cancel the voice line, and keep the fax line. But a second ta provisioned as a fax only for a second account for fax only price($10), I can't see them doing it. A political nightmare. Think $10 voice line. That's probably why your getting conflicting reports from csa. One thinks your trying to scam a $10 voice line the other doesn't. |

I forgot to mention the second mac for the one account as a fax probably isn't in their system. How big a customer base would want that. Thats why hey have the second port on the one ta. |

A new device won't be sent out for a fax line. Ever. however, if you have a second device it can be activated on the account with or without a number provided its a retail device and not an ebay device or a device from a previous account. At that point a fax line could be added to the device. If the second device is from YOUR previously terminated account, it can be done, but it has to be done manually and can take several days.
