Vonage voicemail is driving me crazy! For about the past 3 months I have intermittent problems with the voicemail indicator never turing off. I have spent hours on the phone with Vonage tech support and tried every work around suggested, plus a couple more that I dug up using google. Occasionally one of thw work arounds will clear up the problem temporarily, but it always comes back.

I am planning on dropping Vonage if I can't get this fixed.

do you exit with * every time? I assume you're using the phone to check them.

This has worked for us. As a last resort, call, leave a voice mail and delete it from new and from deleted (we have reset ours this way).

have you tried resetting the router? and have you deleted the vm messages from your online inbox and the call in vm box? i am sure you did all the above. if it keeps happening i would send a email to Vonage and ask to speak with a tier 2 tech. hope all goes well for you!!

It could be your phones, but what I have done in the past is call your # from another phone (cell, work, etc) and leave yourself a test message, then access voice mail from your home phone and delete it. Hopefully, your VM indicator will turn off. I've deleted voice mails from the web interface before but that won't extinguish the VM light on the phone without actually calling into VM (*123) and deleting them that way.

I have two phones with voicemail indicators. one works just fine, the other stays on constantly.

Work arounds include:
1.) Buy a new phone.
2.) Electrician's tape over the led.
3.) Get an answering machine and turn off voicemail.
4.) Turn voicemail off. They'll call back if it's important.
5.) Call forwarding.

I am not sure why a little thing like a voicemail indicator on a telephone would bother anyone enough to quit a carrier? I sorta measure a telephone's success in "Can I hear you? Can you hear me?". Ditch Vonage because the voicemail indicator on your phone don't work? Really?

People do quit Vonage because of the MWI. I find it's usually the men who get hysterical about it.

Panic stricken voice: "How'm I gonna know someone called me?!?!"
Me : "Well, there's (usually) a stutter tone,or caller ID, you can check your web account call log, or my personal technique, let em call back if it's that important."

Now granted, it's supposed to work all the time, but the day I have time to spend hours on the phone with tech support because a little light on my phone won't blink right, well...

I've just had Vonage for about a week, and I was testing out its various features. I use a Panasonic cordless phone that has a VM indicator light on the antenna. I noticed that after I had logged into my VM box, listened to the messages, and deleted them, that the VM indicator was still flashing on my phone.

Turns out I had to erase the caller ID record of that call on the actual phone for the light to go out.

If your Panasonic is anything like mine, the notification light on the Panasonic antenna is not VoiceMail Message Waiting Indicator. If your Panasonic has an answering machine built in, it will flash to tell you you have a message on the answering machine, or it sounds like you can set it to flash for 'new caller' notification. In any event, it only flashes for activities that occured locally to the phone itself - has no connection to Vonage (or any telco) based VoiceMail.

I have a similar problem but found an easy fix. I have a Panasonic KX-TG5428 without an answering machine. The indicator on the antenna flashes for incoming calls and flashes steady to show that I have a vm waiting with Vonage. Occasionally after retrieving a vm using *123 the light continues to flash and the phone display still shows voice mail. I can press and hold the off button on the handset until I get 1 beep and the display clears and the flashing stops. Hope this helps.
