Post subject: Disconecting from the new NID with "plugless module&qu
Here is what I did.
After you open the NID on the customer side, there is a TELCO side that is closed. The red and green wires were leading from the TELCO side to the plugless module on the customer side. The pic shows this.
Being the adventurous sort, I used a 3/8 socket to open the TELCO side and have a look. The TELCO side was not locked nor have any security device on it.
There were 2 large terminal blocks that had the TELCO wiring coming in to them. One pair of red/green wire were leading from each block to the plugless module on the customer side. Each one of the plugless modules contained either the BL/WT or OR/WT wires for the house.
The terminal blocks on the TELCO side had a large screw on them securing each to the NID. I loosened the screw and "behold" the red and green wires could be removed from the TELCO terminal blocks. Apparently, the screw acts a a fastening device for the block and a clamping device for the wires.
This completely disconnected me from my POTS.
I actually attempted this operation several times, just to make sure I could hook the TELCO back up. I loosened the large screw and reinserting the R/G wires in the appropriately colored holes and tightening the screw.
Hope this helps someone.
