Hi, I ordered Vonage on 1/31/06, late in the day. The order appeared as Feb 1 on my Vonage account. I filled out the LOA on-line as soon as it arrived, which was almost immediately. Several days later, I checked he status of the LNP with Verizon, through my Verizon on-line account. The port was scheduled for Feb 9. On Feb 9., Vonage emailed stating the porting would be complete as of midnight on Feb 9. I disconnected my POTS and plugged in Vonage at about 8PM on the 9th. The only problem was I left a phone off the hook (it was a corded phone) while checking for the lack of a POTS dial tone. This caused a bit of an issue with lack of Vonage dial tone. Once the "user error" was discovered, the phone was put back on the hook. The service has been good and the WAF (wife acceptance factor) has been 100%. |

How didyou check the status of the LNP order from your Verizon account. I have found where I can get a list of change orders, but it just shows the order ID, date, status, and a generic type of order (like 'change of service'). But it doesn't say what the actual change is. Did you find a place with more detail? |

I also ordered my first Vonage line on 1/31/06. By 2/6/06 i received both my Vonage adapter, but also the new Uniden phone so I didn't need the adapter. I called Vonage, gave them my MAC address for the Uniden phone and it was working on the Vonage system in less than 2 minutes. That day i was able to make and receive calls on my temp Vonage number immediately. What was strange, is the very next day, 2/7/06, my old Verizon number was already ringing on my Vonage phone. Since I could still call out on my Verizon phone I called Vonage to see if everything was ok, and it was fine. Even they seemed a bit surprised at the speed of the porting, but who am i too complain about it being done too fast.
If you get the chance, check out the new Uniden system. It comes with an awesome desk phone, which is the adapter itself, and a cordless phone that does everything a cell phone does. You can add ringtones and change wallpaper. You can add up to 10 cordless phones. The desk unit has jacks in the back for a regular phone as well as the second jack for a fax or second line. |

I found the date by looking on my Verizon LL account. I found it under Orders/Repairs or Add/Change service. I can't remember which. |

Here is an very important step. Looks at billing address on your current providers bill-hard copy or look up previous billing statement online. Mine turned out to be in UPPERCASE. I had registered with Vonage putting a typical caps and lower case address. Big problem porting--addresses don't match.
Recommendation. Before subscribing with Vonage, be sure to look up your current providers address, look at billing address and use exactly, repeat exactly the same address for Vonage subscription. Computers can match then and should alleviate numerous calls and frustrations of getting porting started.
