I have read all the FAQs and details on the Vonage web site. The following questions are areas that I wanted to clarify or didn't seem to be covered at all - would greatly appreciate member insight.
1. I live in Dallas TX will my invoice for vonage include (a) sales tax (b) 911 fees (3) Universal funding fees (4) state/city/county fees (on a standard POTS line I pay 20% in these fees!)
In other words if I get the $26 plan and no overage/international what will my invoice amount be? If I get the $39.99 plan what will my invoice amount be?
2. Can I switch at any time from the unlim to the regional or visa versa? Any fee to do this? Does the change take place immediately or next billing cycle?
3. If I get a 214 Dallas # is it treated as local for all callers in 214/817/972? (what about 903?) - wondering if it is treated like a cellular prefix which is local anywhere in Dallas metro
4. If I am on the regional plan and forward calls to another area code IN my region (i.e. I live in 972 my # is 214 and I forward to 817 which is traditionall LD on "POTS") it does not use up my minutes right?
5. If I have my present phone # transferred to vonage is there a fee to do this?
6. If I elect not to transfer my POTS number to vonage until after I have tried it out for a month is there a fee to do the transfer at that time (later rather than now)?
7. What does vonage charge to change a phone #?
8. Very roughly speaking what % of the time are calls not completed (incoming/outgoing) or have you had reports that your calls don't go through?
9. Can I just take my ATA along on a business trip, plug it into the broadband connection in my hotel room and answer my home phone???
10. Are all calling features of unlimited plan included with the regional EXCEPT for the unlimited aspect of long distance (are there ANY other differences?)
11. If I use a referral but subscribe to the regional plan do I still get a $40 credit or only $26 on my first bill?
12. If I order, hypothetically, on Monday - based on recent experience when would I expect to see my box arrive? |

If the person you refer signs up the for $25.99 plan, then you get a credit for $25.99. If they sign up for the $39.99 plan, then you will get a credit for $39.99. It used to be you would get a $40 credit, but they changed it to make it dependent on the plan the referred person signed up for. |

It just depends on what Vonage is defining as your regional calling. The answer is no your minutes will not be used assuming it is defined as your regional area.

For the 972 area code, the following area codes are considered in your region 214, 469, 682, 817, and 972. So any calls between any of those area codes would not count as long distance. |
