Or, if you wanted to be truly elite, you could go and get the new, next generation Hands Free Wi-Fi phone:

Well, I love my V-tech 8100. It does everything a phone should do and I have had no problems with it. Took 5 minutes to install the base station (just plugged it into my wireless Linksys router) and I have never touched it again. Added a third wireless handset and associating it was simple.

If anyone on this forum had a grand to blow on one telephone do you think they would be using Vonage? No, they would have their accountants worry about the phone bills and devote their time to more leisurely pursuits such as installing wine cellars, yachting and jaunting to Monaco to dine with royalty.

The nice thing about having money to blow is that one can do whatever they want. For some it might be installing wine cellars etc., others get excited about new and emerging technologies. Who are you to judge why people on this forum are using Vonage? Just thinking out loud.....

I read the "spewing hot chocolate" post and got a good chuckle out of it. Thanks for adding some humor to my day. I think that's what was intended. Smile

Have a great (woo hoo?) weekend everyone.

I think the Panasonic KX-TG2563B has everything you want. Some people complain about the factory battery and replace it with a better one. Been using mine for over a year with no problems. Has the voice message light and a whole lot more.

As we wanted to test Vonage before dropping our landline, we opted not to use our home wiring (nor our existing phones), but to go for the Uniden TRU8860 5.8 ghz base station (no answering machine) with two expansion TCX860 handsets. (about $110 total investment for the 3 phones). There is, for a bit more $, a base station with answering machine. We plug the base into the Linksys WRTP54G rounter.

In short, we have yet to experience ANY problem with this voice set up and are amazed as to the quality. (I could be a bit happier with the wifi part of the router having a minor dchp problems). We like the phones and the Vonage service, we, yesterday, cancelled our land-line service.

Except that that model is a 2.4 GHz and not 5.8.

For cordless, the Uniden TRU8xxx series gets my vote. I have these at both of my homes and love them. When it comes to hardwired phones, the Nortel/Aastra M9316 gets my vote. Okay, it's not as good looking as the Bang & Olufsen phones, but it does have the same sound quality and is more durable, at 1/10th the price.

Now, if you REALLY want to have a good hard-wired (more like permanently-installed) phone, go for a Clearone/Gentner GT1524 teleconferencer. Turn your entire home theater/living room/office into a speakerphone with crystal clear full duplex audio, no echos/feedback, and the other party won't be able to tell you're on a speakerphone. Why bother carrying a cordless phone around -- with this you can just walk around the whole room and truly work hands-free. FWIW, I have 2 of these and absolutely love them. And yes, they do have better sound quality than the Bang & Oulfsen products.
