I searched throughout this board and did not find any possible solutions for this topic, so I am opening it up for discussion. Since I have had Vonage for about 2 weeks, there have been occasions where my calls were cut off in the middle of conversation. There have been absolutely no issues with one-way conversations, nor garbled speech. I suspect the problem lies between Vonage's gateway or meet-me point with the existing LEC in my area. I need to hear from those who found solutions for this problem.

We had a similar problem ourselves just this past week. We were talking on the phone and for no reason, it just cut off. And no, it wasn't past the 4-hour limit either. |

Wb7shc,
I see that you're using a wireless router/adapter. What kind of phone are you using? If it's a 2.4 GHz cordless, that could explain the problem you're having. |

I have a 2.4GHz cordless set, but rarely use it. The cutoffs occurred strictly on the wired (and sometimes weird) side of things.
As stated before, one-way speech or degradation did not occur in any of the instances of dropped calls. In all cases, the calls were in my town. My telecom background of 30 years leans me more toward the switched side of the network...the trunking between the LEC's and Vonage's nearest point of presence in my region. Networks, unfortunately, have become so ambiguous that locations are meaningless. Call traces are a bit of a challenge, compared to the old days.
Since I am relatively new to the VoIP game (but not new to IP), I want to make sure to glean from others' experiences and solutions, before I start shooting off to Vonage. My multi-lingual skills are rather shallow. |
