On the admin page of my RTP300 (Firmware Version: 1.00.60) there are two options for Remote Access: Web and "Secure Shell".
I turned on Secure shell and tried SSHing into it. It connects on port 22 and asks if I trust the key just like normal, but I have no idea what the password is. I've tried both root and admin for the username and the password I have set on the router for the password, but no dice and even tried the default password "admin".
This could come in handy for tunnelling purposes rather than forwarding insecure protocols (VNC) over the internet without messing with a local SSH install... Anyone able to connect to it? |

I am also trying to SSH into my RTP300 and cannot find a username or password that will work. Anyone with any ideas? |

I agree, that is their standard response. My understanding is that there is a unique SSH username and password that is not widely known, even inside Vonage. Let me know if you get anywhere.
What's your reason for SSH'ing into the box? I didn't understand you last sentance in your original post! |

It probably needs the SU password. This is the password with the username "user" and the password that Vonage tells you when you need to do a manual firmware upgrade or factory voice reset. The problem is if you ever need to use it, they'll change it when you're done. |
