our network setting is like: cable-->router-->switch-->Linksys Voip box-->pbx. from pbx log, we can see the incoming caller id, but nothing's shown up on extension.
with our previous Voip provider, caller id could be successfully shown up on extension. Vonage service rep. said it's our pbx problem, but we did not change any network setup or pbx configuration, just switch to Vonage.
any clue about this problem? |

if you're able to see the CallerID on the PBX log, the PBX is receiving callerID. Most PBXs use proprietary phones, so it's up to the PBX to re-transmit the CallerID in a format the system phones understand. Doesn't look like it's Vonage's problem at this point. What type of PBX? |

But the problem is why the caller id's just disappearred since we switch to Vonage? Nothing changed on network structure, pbx settings, extension phone.
We are using Altigen PBX. Is there any ways we can test to see which part has the problem? Unfortunatelly currently we don't have land line in the office. |

I've never heard of Altigen, not sure what their systems are like.
Here's the thing...if the PBX logs are showing the proper CallerID, then the problem 100% exists in the PBX. Which port(s) did you have the land lines going into previously? which ports are Vonage lines going into? Your best bet is to contact your installer and/or Altigen and tell them your problem. As to why it's only appearing now, I'm not sure. Which Linksys Voip box are you using and which firmware version is it running? |

There are two different data formats for the caller id information. I don't know which Vonage uses, but is it possible that they use a different format from what you were previously receiving and that is the source of the problem?

Vonage uses Bellcore MDMF... never seen them send out an SDMF on either the RT31P2 nor RTP300.
There's actually multiple CallerID formats out there. Depending on which Linksys adapter you're using, the following CID formats may be available:
Bellcore FSK (N. America, China) DTMF (Finland, Sweden) DTMF (Denmark) ETSI DTMF ETST DTMF With PR ETSI DTMF After Ring ETSI FSK ETSI FSK with PR (UK) |
