Voip over WiFi still doesn't have the attraction to me that VoIP->Analog adapter or VoIP->IP Phone does. Maybe down the road when Wifi is as ubiquitous as FM radio, then I'll think differently about it.

As far as unlocking boxes.... well. I have mixed feelings about this. I'd be happy if Vonage didn't unlock boxes but still provided SIP credentials. Chances are that anyone who wants the SIP credentials will have a much better device to use with Vonage rather than the Linksys giveaways. ::stares longingly at an IP phone::

For what its worth you can get your SIP credentials off your adapter with relative ease. I won't go into details, but I have an RTP300 and using the credentials I found there I registered my Cisco ATA188 and successfully made inbound / outbound calls. Softphone accounts are not required.

I'm aware of the accessibility of getting the SIP credentials....my desire is to be able to run multiple adapters simultaneously (and get incoming calls to ring on both simultaneously)... Which won't work until Vonage decides to open up the SIP credentials and set up their system to allow multiple connections under the same account.

could you elaborate on how to get the SIP details? I have a Cisco ATA, Cisco 806 routers and Moto cable modem. I'd like to see if I can use a Cisco 7960 IP phone for my home office.

thanks!

Same here - I have a RT31P2 and after checking through the menus, I can't see the SIP info anywhere.

Wonder if I keep my adapter going and use the SIP INFO (if I can get it) on a softphone, if Vonage would see that 2 adapters are running --- I need Vonage way too much to jeopardize my account with them.

If I can't get the SIP info out of the RT31P2, guess I'll wait until they open their SIP info up for softphone use.

Since it's a violation of the Terms of Service right now to possess that info, I wouldn't post it here, or take a chance on doing it right now. It's coming, just have to be patient. We ALL are waiting. Very Happy

Navydavy -- I see you're using Vonage on your Dell Axim... That's my main purpose for waiting for the SIP info from Vonage.

I've got a X3i (400mhz) running SJfone using VBuzzer for free calls to 416 (in and out) and also use Skype until Vonage releases SIP info. Quality with so clear with SJfone it's almost TOO clear - same with Skype... There's only so much going on the background in people's homes that I really want to hear. Using stereo earbuds with the built-in mic on the Axim. As a gadget freak, this is way too cool...

What kind of Dell PPC are you using with Vonage softphone and how is the quality?

I got the Axim x51v running Mobile 5.0. The Dell headset boom mic is great and sounds crystal clear on wifi. I recently used it at a hotel's wifi spot and man, how cool!

You can already put your own device on a softphone line. There's a whole article on it Web Here.

you just use those settings on any SIP device with your softphone account. You can even get an unlocked WiFi phone from VOIPSUPPLY.com and use that, cause they have ones that don't look they're from the early 90's.
