Well... if they open up the credentials, you won't need another adapter. You can just use a softphone or an IP phone, or a adapter/router like the one you have now.
The only reason you are forced to use the adapter router now is that Vonage closes out the creds.
I don't think abuse will be much of an issue. Vonage could restrict accounts to one registered device at a time, and not allow any calls to a non-registered SIP address. |

I'm looking forward to the open SIP. I have an Avaya IP Office IP400 which can do SIP trunking. Right now my VT1005 goes into the analog trunk ports on the IP Office. I'd like to get rid of the Voip -> Analog -> Voip conversion. |

Sometimes posts just need to die, especially those that are fueled by rumor control. |

Navydavy: I didn't know smileys were capable of urinating. Now I know! See, this thread IS useful for something...
As far as Vonage opening up the SIP credentials, it looks like this is in the long-lost list of other features we'll see... like ACR, etc. |

I can assure you -- if they had, you'd have heard about it...
Oh well... At least I can use my SJPhone on my PocketPC with VBuzzer and Skype's Softphone while Vonage decides whether or not to release their SIP info...
Sure would be nice... |

Yup I've got two free dial in numbers on my sipura device.... I use them as backups in case my Vonage line goes out. Which it has on a few occasions. I mostly use incoming calls. |
