hello, A new user - Not yet installed (Waiting for my Phone Number to be transfered) SetUp Cable Modem (Earthlink/Comcast- RCA) Question can I use the Vonage/phone System with out using the Computer??

Yes. If you have just one computer, you can connect the cable modem to the box you will receive from Vonage and then hook up the PC to the box. The PC does not have to be on. Of course, the phone box (the MTA) and the cable modem do have to be on.
If you have a power strip that turns off everything, you'll want to reroute your plugs so that the MTA and the cable box stay on all the time. But not the PC. Also -- it might be worth mentioning -- the MTA expects an Ethernet connection to your cable modem. If your PC is connected by USB to the cable modem, you'll have to change to Ethernet (looks like a fat phone cable). Every cable modem I've ever seen can do either one. However, if you PC doesn't have an Ethernet jack, you may have to install a network card (very cheap these days) or use a USB to network adapter (not too expensive) to get your PC on the Internet. This doesn't have anything to do with the phone per se, but since you have to have the phone connected via Ethernet, you also have to hook the PC up that way.
