If it's correctly entered into the system, then it doesn't matter what the number is - the physical "home"-location of the number will count as local.
We've got Red Deer numbers on our cellphones, and Vonage most likely gave us a Calgary or Edmonton number (it is definitely not a Medicine Hat or Red Deer number), and we live in Medicine Hat. Our number work as local in Medicine Hat, and we're pretty certain it can't be reached as a local number from outside the Hat - we haven't tried though. |

I'm not disputing that. (yet!.) While possible, I just don't see that a likely.
Could some one post the 403-xxx portion of their number from Medicine Hat? I'm now just more curious as to what that reveals.
An outdated source lists the following as Medicine Hat prefixes: But there may be more: (403) 502 - XXXX (403) 504 - XXXX (403) 526 - XXXX (403) 527 - XXXX (403) 528 - XXXX (403) 529 - XXXX (403) 548 - XXXX (403) 580 - XXXX (403) 952 - XXXX (403) 977 - XXXX (403) 979 - XXXX |

The number they gave us was 403;488.... so I guess it was a Medicine Hat number then. I didn't realize about having a virtual number too. Most of our family is in the Belleville Ontario area and we could have had the second number for $8 dollars and then they could call us and it would be considered a local call to them?
I am starting to regret my decision. I am going to start rethinking this. |

Yes, Yes. That's the beauty of Voip. You could "be" in two places at once, and it's a local call from both rate center areas.
Well take some time and think, as ultimately you must be comfortable with your decision. But honestly, I've never regretted it |

Hey Metalbunny,
Just wondering, earlier in the thread, you stated you did not have a Medicine Hat number. Was this the case or just an oversight? |
