Okay, so I ordered Vonage off the website exactly one week ago today. My router (the linksys wireless one) arrived on Saturday. My home phone number was completely ported over from SBC as of this morning.
Vonage kept me updated via emails and the website on the progress of the number porting, etc.
Install was really easy as advertsed. I used to have a Netgear MR314 router and my wireless connection on the Linksys seems much faster than before!
So far it's been great. Good sound quality, etc. When I go home today I'm going to hook the system into my house.
So if there's anyone who is holding back because of any of these issues, I just wanted to say that it only took 1 week to get my number ported over, install was a piece of cake.
Thanks so far Vonage! |

Update...wow! Plugged into my house wiring after unplugging the incoming line and it works great!
I thought there was a problem at first because there was a stuttering before I got the dial tone. Turns out that this is the indication that there's a voice mail! Sure enough, I had left one earlier in the day.
So far everything is as advertised so I'm happy. |

It takes a "minimum" of 15-20 business for a number to be ported...good to hear that your only took a week. The length of time for a number to be ported really depends...on your numbers "carrier". .
As you know, some carriers wouldn't be too happy knowing that their customer is moving to another one. The faster your local "carrier" is, the faster it gets ported to your Vonage router. |
