Modem --> Linksys WRT54G Router ---> Linksys RTP300 Adapter

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong or what I should do next to try to get these things. I've tried numerous times to shut everything down and reboot everything. I got the dial tone once, but then had no access to the net at all, and then when I tried to get the net back, I ended up losing the dial tone. What should I do from here?

Give us some more information. Post the things listed in the sticky at the top of the forum.

Is your cabling from modem to WRT54G WAN port and WRT54G LAN port to RTP300 WAN port?

To get access to the RTP300 web based utility, your computer must be plugged directly into the RTP, not into the WRT.

Yes, that's how it's plugged in. However, my computer is a laptop, so it's not actually plugged into either because it's wireless.

In essence, your computer is "plugged into" the wireless router. You won't be able to access the web based utility in the RTP300 unless you hard wire a computer into it. You can then set it up for remote administration, but you need to get into it first.

Since you're not getting dial tone, I assume that the phone light is not lit. Is this correct? Is the wireless router set up as a DHCP server?

Please post the information listed here.

I got the dial tone to work. Thanks though. I'll see about getting one of the other computers in the house hooked up the Adapter to get into the Web utility. Thanks.

You're welcome. How about a little feedback? What did you do to make it work?

Your setup would be better off this way:
Modem <-RTP300 <-WRT54G

The reason is the RTP300 prioritizes voice traffic so that your voice quality doesn't go down when you're using the computer. Also, if your phone is a 2.4Ghz Cordless, you're gonna interfere with your internet connection when you hit talk, and thereby drop your dialtone.

To get the dial tone, I tried rewiring, and then had it wired as I had stated before again, and probably tried closing down everything and then restarting it all up, quite a few times. I turned everything off, and left it for maybe 5 minutes or so. Then turned everything back on and ta da, I had a dial tone.

I did try setting my connection up Modem<- RTP300 <-WRT4G and I couldn't get the dial tone that way, and my internet connection wouldn't work at all either. The way I have it set up <--Modem <--WRT4G<- RTP300 actually gave me both and I was on the phone and net last night at the same time, and I didn't have any problems.

Lots of cable modems learn the MAC address of the first device they come in contact with, you'll probably need to do a mac clone on the RTP300 or a factory reset on the cable modem, but your voice quality will be better with the RTP in front.
