Hello,

I have had Vonage since the early days. Last week I installed an additional internet line at my house (so now I have cable and DSL, cable - DHCP, DSL - nated connection). I use a load balancer / router - xincom 603. Ever since I set it up, my Vonage does not work properly. I always get a dial tone but I either do not hear the other party or the other party does not hear me....

My thought: since my load balancer always looks for the best / fastest routes to push my data - does it "confuse" Vonage to my "whereabouts" on the internet, therefore my device keeps changing registration information... not sure.. I am sure other people use Vonage within a loadbalanced internet connection - perhaps someone could advise me.

with that complex of a setup, you may have to forward ports. have you tried that yet?

Well that's a good start. My question is this:

Each ATA sends a signal back to the Vonage server stating what LIVE IP address it is under.... so while Vonage may have one IPaddress, my load balancer may decide to send the traffic back through the other internet connection based on packet destination and line saturation... I wonder if all this ping-pong causes my voice traffic to get lost..

That will be tricky to get to work. You'll definitely need to do port forwarding. You'll have to setup a outside NAT address essentially pointing back in. They probably call that a virtual server or something. Oh, check this out:

I have troubleshot this type of setup before, and was only able to get it to work when we set all of the traffic from the Vonage router to one connection. I beleive this is not only due to the fact that the IP's are different but also the traffic is being transmitted at different speeds.
