I called to change my existing Vonage number to a different one with a different area code. The rep said fine, told me the additional cost and said it would be effective in a day or two. It's been almost a week. I cannot get anyone on the phone. They make it impossible to talk to a person. There is no option for this situation so I tried all of them, including the sub-menus. FInally I tried the option to become a new customer thinking someone would answer since it means new business. I got a recording saying the office was not open. Infuriating. OK - I go to email them. No email address available, only FAQs and pre-packaged answers to the most common questions. Maybe someone here can let me know how to contact a LIVE PERSON (yes I know, I don't want to talk to a dead one) but I don't know how else to put it. Thank you all for your time. |

someone told you a day or two? are you trying to transfer an existing number in? a straight number change usually takes less than 5 minutes. |

Thanks for answering. No, I am trying to get my current Vonage number changed to a different Vonage number. Is a "day or two" too soon? That's what I was told. If if takes longer, then I have no problem (yet). Thanks! |

You can usually place a test call to a new number before the call is over, it takes 2-3 minutes, not days to change a number. Were you talking to the NJ office, or the Indian office? call tonight, after 1130 EST, if you get india, ask for advanced billing, they'll connect you to NJ |

Appreciate your help and took your advice. Here's what the status is. I selected the option to open a new account (so I could talk to a person) and I have been on hold for 23 minutes now (12:15 a.m. .EST) This is so agggravating. In answer to your Q, I must have been on with India because the rep had a very heavy Indian accent. When I called earlier today, they said the office was closed until Monday, so that must have been NJ. At this point I am emailing customerservice@vonage.com to see if I get a reply. I also looked at my account history and there are no open or pending orders. It appears that the rep I spoke to did nothing. I did not get the new phone number in order to test it. Thanks again for taking the time to help me. Like you said, this should have been a simple process, just changing one Vonage number to another Vonage number. |

By the way, there is a change your phone number link in your web account. all you have to do is click the billing link and click change your phone number, also sales is the worst idea when trying to get support. The sales office is in the Philipines, and part of customer support is in India. supposedly there are certain things that will punch straight through to the corporate office in NJ, but I think it just depends on how loaded the queues are. Also, NJ office is 24/7 its just that on saturday night (sorry i forgot it was saturday) there's only like 12 people there. |
