I've checked the MAC listed on my IP-8100-2 about a dozen times, but it just doesn't work.
"The MAC address you entered is not a valid MAC address. Please enter it again..."
The MAC on the device matches the one on the bottom of the box. Now I'm lost...
Anyone? |

Hmmm... I went ahead a hooked everything up and it seems to work, so maybe they did this at Vonage before sending it to me (???).
I was just following the instructions on the card that said "YOU MUST DO THIS NOW OR ALL IS LOST!!!", or something to that effect.
Anyway, everything seems to be working. |

If you got your device from Vonage, you don't need to activate it, it was activated when you ordered service before the device was shipped. |

If you purchased the device from a local retailer, exchange it. I had the exact same thing happen to me a year ago when I purchased the Linksys Vonage router from Best Buy.
The MAC address listed on the router wasn't even in the right format. Tech Support was worthless, so I just exchanged it for a new unit and VOILA! |

I had the same problem with equipment I ordered from Vonage. Silly me followed the directions and tried to enter the MAC address on the web site and kept getting the same error message you did of "MAC address not found." I finally decided to just plug everything in and it worked. Seems like Vonage should do one of two things (or both): 1) add something to the instruction manual that says you DO NOT have to enter the MAC address if you bought the equipment directly from Vonage, and/or 2) change the error message to something like "MAC address already registered" for equipment ordered from Vonage. |
