I bought WRT54G y'day to start using Vonage. But realized later that all this while I have been connecting to Internet using USB connection from my ARRIS Touchstone modem. When I connect using Ethernet, it does not connect to Internet, though it shows that I have connected to 100 MBPS connection. i have made sure that I have selected 'Obtain an IP address automatically' and 'Obtain DNS server address automatically'. But I still do not get an IP address when I connect using Ethernet.
One thing I have observed is that when i connect using Ethernet it uses following 'Broadcom NetXtreme Gigabit Ethernet' where as when i connect using USB it uses 'ARRIS TOUCHSTONE DEVICE #2' driver.
I cannot use WRT54G unless I resolve this issue. Someone pls help. Let me know if you need mode details. |

Do you have both USB and Ethernet connected at the same time? |

With my laptop, I'm using one of them one at a time. Though both USB and Ethernet cables are plugged into the modem. Can that be a problem? |

Let me correct myself Set static Ip,subnet and default gateway on computer then you should be able to login and disable network mode. |

Guys...I'm able to resolve this issue...thanks for the PMs....I guess I had skipped 'turning off' the cable modem for a sufficient time.. |
