"I'm sorry navydavy, it's the club's feeling that our network should not be soiled by your equipment and browsing habits. We have been monitoring and have seen the words "cheap sluts" too many times. Please remove yourself before we release the hounds. And have a nice day."

Car? I telecommute. I don't worry about superficial things like "cars" any more. I'd be more likely to insist that they gold-plate their tower, though, or make it out of solid gold (you know, to reduce corrosion).

Right, and everyone's antenna has to be shaped like a giant letter N sticking out of the roof of your house.

All gold plated of course.

Oh and Vonage is not supported on the network also. Voip wil be replaced with Noip, which is only twice as expensive and half as good. Noip provides only the most elite area codes for its customers, such as the tony 212, the elusive 718 and the legendary 213.

<voice nasailty = "extra">Actually, it's NHoIP, it's THREE times as expensive, just to keep the riffraf out, and we will only deal with people who ALREADY have numbers in all three area codes listed above, whereupon we will issue them an area code "000", where Only The Most Important People can dial you. mmmNaturally, members of our "Exclusive Club" will be allowed to build their towers out of solid platinum, if they like, and will be issued a SOLID GOLD router that makes up in looks what it lacks in functionality. We had some technical problems because we just couldn't justify putting an inexpensive non-conductive material into the router...</voice>

I would hazard that the distance between the houses is under 100 yards.

So the corner of derrenbacher and s.farrelly to the corner of abby and s.farrelly, picture a driveway at the end of abbey, and thats that houses lot. basically one house between the two that want to be linked.

Hmmm. that might be a bit too far to achieve what one could call 'reliablility.' You could of course try the famed Cantenna to extend the range, but even that might not work...the terrain and interference could make or break that kind of setup. If your neighbors all have giant mansions, satellite dishes and gilded spires, that might get in the way of the signal. If it's beautifully manicured, imported sod on flat land with nothing in between but your second favorite golf course, you might have a chance.

Alternatives? Buy up the whole block, get that house its own modem and ISP or....run some cable under the city street (either grease some palms at city hall, like Boss Hogg would, or just throw on some coveralls, jump down a manhole, and DIY.

oh boy.... let's just say there may be a town road between the "guest house" and the house with DSL in it.

Now lets say a friend is building(purchasing) a "guest house" on the estate(re:neighborhood) with line of sight to one of the existing properties. Could he be bridged the same way

First, three Vonage adapters plus internet connectivity to 3 (or more) computers is going to severely tax most common DSL lines, unless you have a really top-tier, fast DSL connection.

Secondly, you keep referring to these all as "guest houses" but the fact that there's a town road in the middle tends to make me think that what you're *really* trying to do is share your ISP connection with your neighbors. Just remember that doing so is likely in direct violation of your ISP's terms of service, and is properly termed "theft of service." If that's what you're doing, and your ISP catches you, you're likely to lose service completely with no recourse, plus be subject to additional charges and even potential prosecution for theft of service.

If that is the case, the best lawyers will be contacted and acquittal will be had!

Yeah, yeah yeah. You're just saying that because so many new customers calling in with IP8100's are being told by Vonage that THEIR MAC addresses don't fit! Very Happy

Yeah and the handsets don't fit either, because sometimes they won't register, and sometimes the batteries are just like lead weights with a plastic wrapper and a wire coming out. Sometimes holding 1 key down gets your voicemail, sometimes not...God I hate Vtechs...
