The past few days I have noticed caller id not showing peoples names at all and only their number shows up when the call me. Is anyone else having this issue? I am in the 801 area code if that makes any difference.
Thanks |

It's been working off and on for me ever since the firmware upgrade to 1.00.60. |

Same problem here. It's intermittent - I'm getting names about 25% of the time and "Unknown" 75% of the time. |

My caller ID always says INCOMING CALL on the first ring or two, after that the number and/or name appears if it is available. |

Mine used to do that but the past few days, it just says "incoming call". Tested with my cell and my wife calling from her work place, which both used to work, but nada the past few days.... |

Caller ID works 100% for me here. Area code 207 (Maine), running on a WRTP54G at 1.00.60, using home wiring with two phones. |

We are new to Vonage, about 4 days now in the 503 (Portland, Oregon) area code. For us the phone number shows (though it's 15035551212 instead of 503-555-1212 like it used to be) but the name never shows. I tried calling Vonage, but that was a joke. I got transfered several times, then got someone who was downright rude and when I told him I didn't appreciate his attitude, he hung up on me!
Called back. Tried to nicely explain the problem. Was transfered to someone in tech support (I think). He said he could barely hear me and wanted a number to call me back at. My fault, I should have asked him to say the number back to me because he never called.
Called back, got someone who could barely speak english and wanted to do something to my RTP300 remotely. I asked her to wait and tell me exactly what they were going to do. She wouldn't. I nicely told her I'm in IT, know about network devices, computers, programming, etc, and would like to know what they are going to do before they do it. If it's just a matter of pressing the reset button or power cycling the device, I can do that. But I don't want them to do something remotely, then to get a phone call from my wife's cell phone saying the phone isn't working. She still refused to tell me anything and said I should just let them do their job and stop asking questions. I then asked to speak with someone who could speak better english. This person then was going to transfer me to tech support. I was on hold for about 10 minutes, music playing, when the music cut out. This has happened before, the connection has been lost. My phone showed I was still connected, but no one was there. I waited another 5 minutes before I hung up.
I haven't called back as I'm just too frustrated to deal with it right now, I need to calm down. So in our area, only the phone number shows on the caller ID, no name - and again on incoming calls. sigh... |

I can't tell from your post, esp the last sentence, are you having incoming (on your phone) or "outgoing" (your name on other people's phones) caller id name problems? |

Here's something to try that came up awhile back on the caller id talks. Try unplugging one of your phone and then call you house using a cell and see if the caller id works. Some phones apperently have odd wiring and it causes the caller id to get messed up. With me, with 10.0.55 it was a black corded phone I had...if it was unplugged caller id worked fine. With 10.0.60 that got resolved...but due to other problems, I've asked to be moved back to 10.0.55. I don't use that black phone at all except for testing, so it wasn't a biggie to me.
Try it and see if it works. |
