If you get the business account, it comes automatically with one voice and one fax line. The fax line is dedicated. If you are trying to do this from a personal account, all bets are off since you are not allowed to do business with a personal account and they might eventually require you to either get a business account or discontinue your service. This is explicitly stated in the terms of agreement. |

Yes - I do know this. This is a business account. The dedicated fax line does not offer enough outbound minutes for my needs. So I purchased:
1 business account (with the included dedicated fax line). 1 additional business account.
I will use the included fax line only as a secondary for incoming fax's from certain customers. I would like to use the additional business account as my primary fax line.
Are you able to answer my questions in my previous post?
Thanks! |

stags14,
I needed to clear the air before any responses are given. So it's good to know that you have a business account but you are saying that the 500 "free" minutes that come with it are not enough.

1) I would like to dedicate one of my Vonage lines to being fax only (So I can have unlimited outbound fax as well). What configuration changes do I need to make to that account so that it is fax only?
|
By this first question, I am assuming that you want to use a regular voice business line as a fax line. I believe that the only thing you need to do is *99 before a call. Go here: http://www.vonage.com/help.php?article=134&category=27&nav=2
I think this should work. I fax on my personal voice line without any problems.

Unless you have the fax pick up before voicemail picks up. Either way will work.
| stags14 wrote: | 3) What else do I need to do?

I can't think of anything
| stags14 wrote: | | 4) The way I understand it - I simply plug a phone jack from the Vonage adapter into my fax modem on the back of my computer. Is that correct? |
yes
| stags14 wrote: | | 5) I generally have an excellent connection from my ISP (knock on wood). How reliable will winfax pro be for both ingoing and outgoing fax's using my Vonage line? |
never used it but can't see why it won't work.
| stags14 wrote: | | 6) Would anyone recommend something other than winfax pro? |
can't answer this. This is not the best place. Go to the fax, tivo, and alarms forum. |

couple of things. Winfax usually works fine (depends on the modem, sometimes they don't hang up correctly). You just need to set the baud rate to 9600.
Also, you don't need to do *99, as long as the Bandwidth saver is set to Highest (90k) |

Vonage offers 2 different kinds of forwarding: 1 - Call Forwarding, where it rings for X seconds and is forwarded to another phone. This phone can be a cell phone or land line. 2 - Outage Forwarding, where if no network or no connection to your phone hardware can be made, it will forward to any number, just as in #1.
This can be set up with BOTH your Phone line and you Fax line (I think)...
SO you should still be covered, in any case.
