What version of the WRT54G do you have? If it a V5, make sure you load the newest firmware, as it supposedly fixed some issues. |

If that doesn't fix it, you have to address the fact that you have high packet discards outbound. Try plugging your computer directly into your modem and repeating the Voip test. If the results improve substantially, then we need to look at your local equipment (router, adapter). If they don't, then it would appear that you have an issue with your ISP. (I include your local cable and cable modem as ISP issues.) |

I don't remember the specific reason why, but Comcast was trying to get rid of all the Teryon modems in their system here over the past few months. |

Here in Michigan the Terayon TJ 715 is only modem comcast is giving out.
Thats the one I had just recieved from Comcast.
Was still getting dropped calls, echoey and garbled audio.
Vonage tech changed some settings to my router - something to do with the packet size on vonages side.
Seems to have fixed my problem so far.
the techs name was Frank..... if that helps you out any Joelbra. |

Joelbra -
Please plug a computer directly into your modem (or at least shut down everything that is using the Internet) and run the testyourvoip.com test on a totally quiet connection.
If the results improve, then your problem can be solved by good QoS setup ( http://vonage.nmhoy.net/qos.html ). If your results do not improve, you may have a problem with your ISP - Vonage may be able to compensate but you probably also want to read this: http://vonage.nmhoy.net/packetloss.html
Also... Please post the first four digits of the serial number of your WRT54G. I may have some recommendations for you there, especially if the retest on a quiet Internet connection gets you really good results. I know QoS on the WRT54G series pretty well, and if yours is one of the older Linux based units, I can help you load up some aftermarket code into the unit that wil REALLY make it work exceptionally well. |
