Signed up today, purchased the router/phone adapter from Best Buy, WRPT54G, connections to internet from all computers on the network is OK, no Vonage phone service. I found buried in the troubleshooting area " provide MAC to activate" clicked on the link entered MAC and then I continue to all the sign up pages?
How do I activate, enter MAC. Vontage customer support has not impressed me.

Did you try the big "Retail Activation" link on the front page of www.vonage.com?

Using that link allows you to enter MAC, however you get linked on to a new signup site and can not continue. Already have active status with a phone #. Nothing in my account will let me enter the MAC. New Equipment?
Also concerned about the Linksys router after viewing the forum.

I guess I'm completely not understanding your situation. After you bought the device you took the Retail Activation link on the front page of www.vonage.com and that didn't work for you? Or did you do something else to create your account on the Vonage website? What, precisely, have you done up to this point? Your posts seem a bit disjointed and are hard (for me at least) to follow. Of course, it's been a long day so my brain is probably also not working that well.

I purchased the router/adapter. Called the 800# provided by Best Buy. Signed up. Told them I had the equipment. Said they would set it up and everything would work. Nothing about MAC. Only found that looking at the troubleshooting and forum. Call Vonage again today "System is down for emergency" call tomorrow". I believe that is what was said lots of drop[ outs on their end.
Also the MAC on the box and the MAC on the receipt are not the same.
Now rebooting the Linksys WRTP54G to stay connected to internet.
Is Vonage for real?

sign-up via the web, using the retail activation link. then call in a little later today or tomorrow to cancel the exsisting account. If they didn't sign you up via retail, you'll have to do that anyway.
